Has Yuwie Shut Down?

I originally created this blog back in 2007 when Yuwie.com was brand-new and full of potential. Now it appears that Yuwie is about to be shut down. The signs are there for anyone who takes notice...

As of this writing, the yuwie.com domain name is set to expire on 5/21/11. (According to GoDaddy.com, which is where it was registered.)

Recently, it has only seemed to be online during certain hours per day - usually earlier in the day, and offline completely at night.

Yuwie's creator, Korry Rogers (AKA "Y-Guy"), hasn't even logged in to it since 1/12/11. This was when he posted a reassuring blog stating that despite rumors, there were no immediate plans to shut down Yuwie any time soon. I find it interesting that his personal website, korryrogers.com, and his LinkedIn profile don't even include any references to Yuwie as one of his career achievements.

I'll be sorry to see it go for my own sentimental reasons. It was loads of fun when it was new...downright addictive, in fact! Not to mention the fact that I actually met the love of my life and now fiance right there on Yuwie! (Yup, this very blog is where she saw me for the first time and decided to join using my links.) :) But that was before all those nasty pop-up/pop-under/peel down, etc. ads that started to give Yuwie members fits after the first year or so. By 2010 it became so unbearable that it was actually a chore to try to send all my Yuwie friends their daily comments that we were all used to exchanging. So even I eventually decided it was time to quit using it altogether because it was so frustrating.

To this day, I still communicate with many of those former Yuwie friends on Facebook, which has become the social network of all social networks these days. Of course there's no money to be made just by using Facebook, so it's not really quite the same. Doesn't matter how many page views you get on there - it doesn't earn you a cent! LOL

If you'd still like to try your hand at earning some money online with a site similar to what Yuwie had to offer, I can recommend a couple of good ones...

The first one I recommend is called Klikot.com. It's very similar to Yuwie, in that they pay you in relation to the views that you get on blogs, pics and videos you've posted, and of course on members that you've signed up by using your own link. (Like Yuwie referrals.) Klikot is fun too, but it doesn't seem to have the traffic that Yuwie used to have, but it's still growing and might turn out to be pretty successful eventually. You can check out my own Klikot page right here. It's not much, but it's there earning me whatever it turns out to be. lol

There's another new site that looks pretty exciting, although it's not a social networking site like Yuwie or Klikot. It's called Varolo.com, and you make money just for viewing TV commercial type ads, and for introducing the site to other people who join your Varolo "Village". You're free to watch as many or as few as you want, but they also enter you into their weekly cash jackpot giveaways with each ad that you view. Varolo just officially launched in April, 2011, and it's growing by leaps and bounds...their registered user total has doubled from April to May this year! They even have their own Varolo information blog to give everyone a way to stay informed on the developments as they happen, including the weekly jackpot winner, etc. I think it's a very cool idea that just might have a chance to make a lot of people some money for doing hardly anything at all! In fact, I even created a Facebook page to promote it with called "Making-Money-For-Doing-Hardly-Anything"!

The great thing about Varolo is that it's totally free to join and take part in...but it can also boast the credibility of having drawn the attention of big-time advertisers. You'll see what I mean when if you take a look at it. Companies like Coca-Cola and Nationwide Insurance, just to name a couple, as well as actual new movie trailers are seen on Varolo. It's often like watching the funny new commercials that you see being debuted during the Super Bowl...a lot of them are hilarious! Yet it gives you the chance to make some substantial money without ever paying them anything...either by watching the ads or by referrals to advertisers who pay to have their ads shown.

So there are at least 3 ways you can make money with Varolo. It's really pretty cool, and I hope you check it out and decide to join my own little Varolo "Village"!

If you do join either Klikot or Varolo, please do me a favor and let me know you found out about them by reading my Yuwie Reviews blog! :) I'll look forward to welcoming you onto my team!

Take care, and thanks for reading!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://yuwie-reviews.blogspot.com/2011/05/looking-for-new-yuwie-information-has.html' title='Looking For New Yuwie Information? Is It A Scam Or Real?

Looking for Yuwie Reviews? You probably already know that yuwie.com is the new social networking website that pays its users just for using it. Launched in May of 2007, their membership count is growing at an impressive rate. As of this writing (updated 2/11/09), registered users now total over 828,920 - 5,818 of which have signed up so far this month alone. But it's still so relatively new to the social networking scene that, so far anyway, it's hard to find many good, thorough Yuwie reviews yet...so that's why I created this site.

Is is it real, and do they really pay?

And what do you have to do to gain earnings?

Yes, it's real - I can vouch for that myself! And it's fairly easy to use too. It's a lot like MySpace, so if you're familiar with that you should have no problem at all with learning to use Yuwie. In fact, you may even find yourself forgetting that you're not on MySpace.

It's not a scam, since it's totally free to join and use. When you sign up you get a profile with a unique url address where you can post pictures and blogs as often as you'd like.

How much can I make?

You accumulate earnings mainly by getting page views. But the good news is that simply browsing other members' profiles, pics and blogs, in addition to making changes and posting items to your own profile all count as page views for you as well. So, depending on how active you are, it doesn't take long to wrack up lots of page views.

Sounds almost too good to be true. What's the catch?

There's no catch - none that I've found so far, anyway. You really do get paid just for doing your social networking on Yuwie. But there are a few things to keep in mind before you join. So, as with anything else, it's best to do some research to get the whole story before jumping in with both feet to avoid any disappointment.

Further Reading...Things You Need To Know About Yuwie:

Here's What People Trying To Get You To Sign Up For Yuwie Don't Tell You

How To Increase Your Yuwie Earnings

The Truth About Yuwie Earnings

Is Yuwie Something You Should Join?

A Fun, New Yuwie Feature!

Here's what the people trying to get you to sign up for Yuwie don't tell you:

It's new - and it's obvious sometimes. - According to "The Y Guy" (Yuwie's answer to everyone's friend on MySpace, Tom) they have been adding to their server capacity due to various problems caused by the explosive growth in traffic they've experienced. The main symptom being an extremely slow website at times. The most recent bout has apparently been cured, and according to Y Guy, hopefully it will last for awhile before they need to add more capacity again. In other words, chalk it up to growing pains, but it can be frustrating to deal with at times. I will say their customer service was fairly quick to respond when I recently emailed them a technical question. I received an instant automated response to verify receipt of my question, followed by a helpful answer from their technician in less than 24 hours...so their communication is pretty good.

Getting Paid - it takes longer than you might expect. - The money you earn is totaled monthly, but actually paid on Net 60 terms. This means they pay you for each month's earnings about two months later. The reason, they explain, is that it takes about this long to get paid by their advertisers. Also, their mimimum payment amount is $25.00...so it may take quite awhile for you to reach that minimum. And here's why:

The earnings themselves...they're just not very much. (So far, anyway.) - Much like most any other program you find that pays you for doing something that's incredibly easy...this one just doesn't pay very much for your own efforts. For September, 2007 they paid their members 10% of their earnings payout, based on a rate of .46 per 1000 member page views. (Example: Members with 5000 page views earned 23 cents.) The belief is that this pay rate is likely to increase as the site's popularity (and earnings) grow. If it wasn't for also earning a percentage of your referrals' page views as well, it would hardly be worthwhile. Obviously, most people aren't concerned about this because Yuwie is certainly growing by leaps and bounds. And it is, afterall, more than MySpace pays their members! But still, the earnings being so low (at least so far) leaves most people looking elsewhere for other ways to make money.

More of the truth about the earnings...

The good news is that you're not just limited to earning on your own page view totals. You also get credited with a percentage of the page views of any other members you referred to Yuwie. And better yet, the referrals of your referrals, and their referrals, etc. for up to 10 levels down. This is what makes Yuwie exciting - the chance to build a large "referral tree" that pays a substantial monthly income. Your own activity alone will probably never amount to very much - but combined with your referrals and their referrals for up to 10 levels down, the potential is there to earn up to hundreds or even thousands per month. Here's the table of projected earnings that usually gets everyone excited about Yuwie's earnings potentials. Take it for what it's worth, since it illustrates a perfect world where everyone that joins gets 1000 page views per month and refers 3 others...and so on, and so on, and so on...you know the drill! Also, the earnings are figured based on a .50 pay rate per thousand page views, which will vary from month to month.

LEVEL / REFERRALS / IMPRESSIONS / MONTHLY EARNINGS

1 ................. 3 .................. 3,000 .............. $0.15

2 ................. 9 .................. 9,000 .............. $0.45

3 ................ 27 ................ 27,000 .............. $0.54

4 ................ 81 ................ 81,000 .............. $1.62

5 .............. 243 .............. 243,000 ............... $4.86

6 .............. 729 .............. 729,000 ............. $14.58

7 ............ 2,187 ........... 2,187,000 ............. $43.74

8 ............ 6,561 ........... 6,561,000 ........... $328.05

9 .......... 19,683 ..........19,683,000 ............$984.15

10........... 59,049 ..........59,049,000 ..........$8,857.35 (Yes, that's per MONTH!?)

THIS is why so many people are so excited about Yuwie...especially considering that it doesn't cost any of the members counted in the example above anything to join. If everything goes well, you really could potentially earn a very nice income just from this.

BUT YOU DO NEED TO KEEP THIS IN MIND... Things don't work perfectly like this in the real world, since you can't count on all of the other people to do their part and sign up 3 or more others, for millions of different reasons. This means that if you want to make any significant amount of money with this, it makes sense to sign up as many referrals yourself as you can. And the truth is, it's not always the easiest thing to do to get people to abandon their other favorite site for one that's still as new as this one is. But think of it this way: If you're willing to put in a little effort each day for a while to continue signing up referrals, and keep in touch with them while teaching them to do the same...after a few months or a year or so this could build a substantial income that you'll be proud of. As long as you understand what it takes to accomplish this going in, you won't be disappointed. So far, I've found it surprisingly easy to encourage people to join. Most people seem to be willing to give it a try as soon as they hear it's free, it pays you to use it, and it's as fun and easy to use as all of those other social networking sites that don't pay you a cent to use them. I think you'll find that if you present it like that to people you know who are already social networking enthusiasts (addicts!) it's really pretty easy. Personally, I've had better luck getting referrals by emailing my online friends directly, rather just using the "invite a referral" feature that Yuwie offers. It seems much more personal to just explain it in your own words, include your personal referral link and mention that you hope they'll join you on Yuwie. That way, the email comes from you rather than from Yuwie, which looks much less like an impersonal sales pitch.

So is Yuwie something YOU should join? My opinion is, yes. Especially if you're looking for a low risk and fun way to make some money. It's free to join and use, and there's really no "catch" to the whole deal. So long as you don't mind waiting a little while to collect your earnings, there's no reason not to sign up. Especially if you already enjoy using social networking websites, since you're probably already doing exactly the same things that thousands of happy Yuwie members are now getting paid for.

But there's one more thing that you should take into account when considering Yuwie...

 The Intangible Difference

There's something unique about Yuwie that's not obvious when you check out their site before joining or watch their introduction video. And I don't feel this review of mine on Yuwie is complete unless I mention this. There's definitely something different about Yuwie that I haven't noticed on any of the other social networks...and that is the overall friendliness of its members. There's a real sense of camaraderie that exists between seemingly all Yuwie members, with the general attitude being pretty much a "we're all in this together" kind of thing. The fact that everyone is being paid for both viewing and being viewed results in almost everyone being more than happy to exchange comments and messages - and friend requests are hardly ever refused. Many members even encourage each other in their blogs to always accept friendships from anyone who requests, since it benefits both parties anyway. So this makes for sort of a friendship frenzy where you would think people are getting paid not just for page views, but for how many friends they've added to their list! I've found that almost all friend requests are approved, often right away, followed by a "thanks for adding me" comment posted in return.

Wouldn't it be nice...

I can't help but think how nice it would be if it was the same in real life...people from all walks of life in all different parts of the world, readily accepting friendships from anyone who asks, and all working together to make things better for each other. This kind of world does exist right now on Yuwie. If it sounds like fun...it is! So if you'd like to join I certainly recommend it. And if you do join using any of my links on this site, I'll be your first Yuwie friend, ready to personally help you however I can. I hope you'll join with me so we can work together to make some money with this new internet playground - it'll be fun! I'll look forward to meeting YOU on Yuwie!

Sincerely, John

P.S. - If you'd like to see what my own Yuwie profile looks like, you can find it at www.yuwie.com/johnjet

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://yuwie-reviews.blogspot.com/2008/04/looking-for-yuwie-reviews.html' title='Looking For Yuwie Reviews? It's called "Member Actions", and it's a lot like a stored text message list that you can select from and instantly send funny little phrases to other members without typing a word. Then they appear on the right side of the receiver's control panel page as actions they've received, including easy reply buttons on each to allow them to return the "action" with a choice of their own.

Some of the phrases are polite little generic ones, like: wave, smile, wink and thumbs up. But there are also plenty of more adventurous ones for when you feel the need to send such actions as: "kick them in the butt", "wrestle them" or even "steal their milk money", among many others too numerous to mention all of!

This is a fun way to stay connected with your Yuwie friends that's quick, easy and fun. If you haven't already, you should join Yuwie too and have fun exchanging kicks in the butt (or sending flowers, if you'd rather) with your online friends!

Hope to see you online!

John
Yuwie.com/johnjet

Looking For Yuwie Reviews?-Is It A Scam or Real?

Looking for Yuwie Reviews? You probably already know that Yuwie.com is the new social networking website that pays its users just for using it. Launched in May of 2007, their membership count is growing at an impressive rate. As of this writing, [Updated: 4/11/08] registered users total over 585,911 - 20,942 of which have signed up so far this month alone.

(So far, anyway.) - Much like most any other program you find that pays you for doing something that's incredibly easy...this one just doesn't pay very much.

And the truth is, that's not always the easiest thing to do with the site that's still as new as this one is.

However, so far anyway, I've found it surprisingly easy to encourage people to join.

Sincerely,
John
P.S. - If you'd like to see what my own Yuwie profile looks like, you can find it here: www.yuwie.com/johnjet

The Truth About Yuwie Earnings

And the truth is, that's not always the easiest thing to do with the site that's still as new as this one is.

However, so far anyway, I've found it surprisingly easy to encourage people to join.

Yuwie: What They Don't Tell You

(So far, anyway.) - Much like most any other program you find that pays you for doing something that's incredibly easy...this one just doesn't pay very much.

More of the truth about Yuwie earnings...
